Allergy Causes

In the Bodies Defense:

If you are fighting allergies, it is best to not only know what you are fighting, but also to know why your body is trying to combat you in specific ways.  Understanding the ways that allergies work and the science behind it will also give you the ability to win half the battle so that you can begin to work towards feeling healthier and not having to deal with the difficulties that come from the bodily reaction of allergies.

The Bodies Defenses

Allergies are not an illnesses, viruses or disease.  Instead, they are a simple reaction to the environment that happens in your body.  When there is a substance that disagrees with the body, it will move into the immune system and trigger a reaction from this area.  The immune system will send a signal to the body from this hypersensitivity as a warning to keep the specific substance away from the body.  The reaction is within the body, causing it to fight against the unknown substances.

In most cases, the immune systems reaction to foreign substances is one that is required in order to keep the body healthy.  For instance, if an infection, harmful bacteria or unknown foreign substance, known as antigens, moves into the body, the immune system can find a reaction towards it in order to stop it from moving into other areas of the body and becoming harmful.  With allergies, the environmental substances are recognized as unknown or foreign to the body.

Not only is the immune system reaction a part of the allergies, but moves into a specific type of protecting force that comes from this area in order to fight off the antigen.  With harmful substances, an antibody will move into the body to instantly destroy what is occurring.  With allergies, a protein molecule is used, known as E or iGE, in order to destroy the foreign substances.  It is because of this that the body will have the specific allergic reactions where it fights off the environment from the outside, instead of the inside.

Defining Allergic Reactions

Not only do the specific reactions cause for foreign substances to cause responses, but also moves the immune system into a specific category of reactions with one who is allergic to the environment that is around them.  This is based on the immune systems fighting defenses, immune system that is used and molecules that begin to react with the body.

Take, for instance, if someone doesn't have allergies.  The immune system may still react to the particles that the person comes in touch with.  For instance, if there is cat dander, the body will respond as this being a foreign substance.  However, it will use the immune system in order to fight off the substance, specifically with the required antibodies used in the system.  This will completely eliminate the substance and allow for the body to remain healthy.

If a person is allergic, the body will go through this same process; however, the protein molecule, E, will be over produced in order to fight off the antigen.  This means that if someone touches the same cat dander, the immune system will start to fight it off, but will overproduce proteins in order to do so.  The result will be a complete allergic reaction as an over sensitive way to fight the foreign substance.

If you are fighting allergies, it is because your body has a built in defense mechanism that is responding to the foreign substances and environment in a specific way.  This includes the overproduction of specific elements from the immune system and a response that is trying to keep your body healthy and balanced.  Understanding how this works is your first step towards stopping the sneezing and moving towards a complete understanding of your allergy symptoms.
